What is Orthomosaic Mapping? by Mark Westin

An orthophotograph is an aerial photograph that is geometrically corrected so that the scale is uniform. Unlike a standard aerial photo, an orthophoto has been adjusted for topographic relief, lens distortion, and camera tilt, so it's an accurate representation of the Earth’s surface.

When a group of orthophotos are stitched together, they create an accurate orthomosaic map that can be used to measure true distances or create 3D models. Orthomosaic mapping is used in the construction, real estate and agriculture industries for a variety of purposes.

Dronemark offers orthomosaic mapping and surveying. Contact us to find out more about how it can benefit your business.
